Definition
Utility bills are recurring charges for essential home services: electricity, gas or district heating, water, internet, mobile phone, waste collection and building fees. Costs vary widely by country, apartment size, season and usage habits. In most European countries, utilities are the tenant's responsibility and are paid separately from rent unless stated otherwise in the lease.
